The Most Famous Golf Course Architects

The best golf course architects have left their mark around the world with their innovative and beautiful designs.
Among some of the internationally renowned golf course designers in the world include Pete Dye, Robert Trent Jones, tom Fazio, Jack Nicklaus and P. B. Dye. In this article, we offer a brief description on their innovative and creative designs that inspire more and more golf course architects each year.

Pete Dye

Pete Dye is a world renowned golf course designer which has greatly influenced the art of golf course design.
He designed the course “Teeth of the Dog” at Casa de Campo, ranked 23th in the world rankings and ranked # 1 Caribbean Golf Magazine.
He also created The Links Golf Course, a field where you can find a lot of bunkers and many small hills where you can fully enjoy a bigger level of dificulty.
In Dye Fore, located on the cliffs overlooking the Chavon River, you will have a beautiful view while enjoying the game. La Romana Country Club has four tees to suit all tastes of players and to offer many levels of play.
This architect also created Las Aromas Golf Club in Santiago, a gem in the middle of an agricultural environment.

Robert Trent Jones

Robert Trent Jones has designed 500 golf courses in at least 40 US states. Since 1987, he was introduced in the World Golf Hall of Fame.
He has created three beautiful golf courses in the Dominican Republic. Also, Playa Dorada Golf Course, in the resort of Playa Dorada in Puerto Plata, is famous for its great playing conditions and its first class greens; Playa Grande Golf Course in Rio San Juan (the field with the most holes near the sea)
Another exquite golf course created by R.T.Jones is in Santo Domingo Country Club, in the Dominican capital. It has hills, impeccable greens, varied vegetation and beautiful landscapes.

Tom Fazio

Tom Fazio has been inducted in the Hall of fame in 2007. He has designed several golf courses in the Bahamas, Panama, USA, Domnican Republic and Canada.
One of his famous golf courses is located in the Dominican Republic. Corales Golf Club at Puntacana Resort & Club is suitable for all players and it has a magnificient view of the coral reefs. So you can enjoy the view while taking a break from playing.
This course has six holes on the seafront, rocky cliffs and a magnificent view of the coral reefs.

Jack Nicklaus

Jack Nicklaus is nicknamed “Golden Bear” and is considered to be one of the best golfer of all time. Even though some of his designs are considered to be a little hard, the rest of his 200+ golf courses are simply original and exqusite. His first golf course in the Caribbean is considered to be the best in the area.
The Cana Bay Palace Golf Club, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, is the third field signed by the Golden Bear in the country, and its main feature is that it respects the ecological balance of the region.

P. B. Dye

PB Dye is the son of world renowned golf course designer, Pete Dye. He designed La Estancia Golf Course in La Romana, where he took advantage of the beautiful surroundings and created an amazing golf course, with undulating greens.
Moreover, he has reshaped the field of Barceló Bavaro Beach Resort & Convention Center, where some areas were added to make the game more innovative and fun.
PB Dye was also the creator of La Cana Golf Club at Puntacana Resort & Club, the first in the Caribbean to use brackish water.
